India News The cold wave sweeping large parts of north India continued unabated, with Srinagar witnessing its coldest night in 11 years at minus 6.8 degrees Celsius, resulting in partial freezing of the Dal Lake, and Amritsar reeling at 1.1 degrees Celsius. Beyond News The policy is aimed at encouraging hybrid renewal energy projects in the State and thus generate 18,000 MW renewable energy by 2021-22. The government has set a target that Andhra Pradesh should be able to generate 10% of the total renewable energy generated in the country. Findings The sex of turtle hatchlings is determined by temperature, and at present about 52% of hatching green turtles one of seven species of sea turtle are female. Researchers found that in warmer temperatures predicted by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change scenarios, 76-93% of hatchlings would be female. The figures are specific to the study site in Guinea-Bissau, West Africa, but researchers say they expect a similar picture globally.
