Beyond News Hospitals struggled to cope with hundreds of injured and rescuers scrambled to reach the stricken region. The national disaster agency put the official death toll so far at 384, all of them in the tsunami-struck city of Palu, but warned the figure was likely to rise. The warning was later lifted. Beyond News The US Geological Survey said the magnitude 7.5 quake was centered at a depth of 6 miles (10 kilometres) about 35 miles (56 kilometres) northeast of the town of Donggala. Indonesia’s disaster agency spokesman said a tsunami warning for the island of Sulawesi has been lifted. Beyond News The cyclonic storm “Daye” over northwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestward with a speed of about 23 kmph and crossed south Odisha and adjoining Andhra Pradesh coast close to Gopalpur, Director, Meteorological Centre, said. Beyond News The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister, approved the Dam Rehabilitation Improvement Project (DRIP) project. Out of the ₹3,466 crore cleared, ₹2,628 crore would be funded by the World Bank and ₹747 crore by the States and Implementing Agencies (IAs), and the balance ₹91 crore by the Central Water Commission (CWC).
