Tiruvannamalai and Dharmapuri are among districts that have low CSR, according to a preliminary study. The organisation had also conducted a sample survey among various stakeholders such as panchayat presidents, doctors in primary health centres, district child protection officers and pregnant women in the 10 districts. Nearly 57% of respondents revealed there were instances of female foeticide and 55% of them were not aware of village-level child protection committees. Findings The number of dolphins recorded in a 324-km stretch of Gandak river was 155, a drop from the last estimation. The last survey carried out in 2009-10 had recorded the presence of 257 dolphins in the same stretch.
