Beyond News The artefacts are estimated to be around 2,000 years old. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had earmarked several acres of land in Old Pallavaram for undertaking such excavations, which was objected to by the residents. The archaeological remains were found near Ambedkar Thidal. A few clay pieces were initially found by the researchers. On Friday, they unearthed a six-foot-high pot. Hindu Notes from General Studies-02 ‘Panchayat certificate no longer proof of citizenship’ News: The Supreme Court held that a certificate issued by the Gram Panchayat secretary or the executive magistrate by itself was “no proof of citizenship” unless it established the legacy linkages with a person who was an Indian citizen. Beyond News: The top court said the certificates issued by the Gram Panchayat secretary merely acknowledged shifting of residence of a married woman from one village to another. The Bench said that,such proof will come only if the link between the claimant and the legacy person [who has to be a citizen] is established.
